Hello world

Nearly 10 years have passed since I wrote my first-ever program in Pascal on my brother’s IBM ThinkPad T40 — little did I know I was taking the first baby steps of my career as a software engineer.

Since that first program, I’ve regularly consumed programming-related content such as manuals, video tutorials, books, talks and blog posts, always trying to learn more and more about this huge world of computers. Surprisingly enough, this is the first time I attempt to produce any sort of content of my own for people to see — a bit scary because of impostor syndrome — but I’m mainly doing it for fun so it shouldn’t be that hard, right?

As the title suggests, this blog will be mainly focused on programming topics, especially frontend programming which I’m very fond of these days. It’s amazing what developers can do with JavaScript, and I would like to share some of the stuff that gets me excited about it in developer tooling, libraries and open-source in general.

Another reason for me to start a blog is that I’ll get a chance to polish my English writing skills. Since I’m from Mozambique and speak Portuguese natively, I have limited opportunities to practise my English every day, so having a blog will certainly help in that regard.

That’s about it for the first post. Let's see how things turn out.
